3 Reflections on Impatience
Solo Violin
Composed for Christiano Rodrigues
Program Note
Being artistically creative is a fail-first lifestyle. While failure is a common aspect of every vocation, receiving harsh, contrasting and discouraging feedback about one’s creations is particularly difficult to regroup from. Nevertheless, the life of a successful artist demands perseverance. Allowing others to dissect one’s artwork, the ultimate form of vulnerability for many artists, takes courage. Combatting with insecurity is a regular process, but succeeding as an artist demands that this struggle take place. Artists must continue to make themselves vulnerable in order to grow. 3 Reflections on Impatience chronicles this struggle through a set of three quirky, reflective and vulnerable movements.
