Midair Exhibition

Alexander Calder’s Untitled 1976 is a moving sculpture (known as a “mobile”) that hangs as a centerpiece in the East Building of the National Gallery of Art. The sculpture responds only to air currents that pass through the building, reacting at a snail’s pace to the museum- goers below. Midair Exhibition is a first-person perspective of this sculpture leading the listener through an exhibition of the museum, the artwork and the museum-goers themselves.

This work was commissioned by the Atlantic Reed Consort.
